Castilla-La Mancha is poetry, fine food, the peaceful life, windmills and Don Quijote. Throughout history much has been written about this region of Spain. The rain is sparse, and the elderly carry on their faces the marks of a difficult life, marked by war, poverty and continuous change.
In Castilla La Mancha’s capital, Toledo, and in other cities one still sees the imprint of the Visigoths, Arabs and Christians who battled for these castles. These are cities with hidden corners and hidden memories. The evangelical witness has been valiant, but we ask God to renew its strength. For many years believers have been sowing seeds and praying that God would open doors, closed by religious tradition. So many cathedrals have been raised in the name of saints and patrons, but this has not quenched the spiritual thirst of the the common people.
The Lagunas of Ruidera and other natural reserves clear the air and refresh the souls of the Manchegos. Reserved and intelligent, they patiently endure the storms life brings, and our desire is that God will rain down a message of love on Castilla-La Mancha that transforms lives..
Pray for Castilla La Mancha, for its leaders, its cities and towns. Although the gospel arrived in this land over a century ago, establishing itself in cities like Valdepeñas and Puertollano, there are still sizable towns with no witness. Pray that many people of Castilla La Mancha will come to celebrate the living God, that they will celebrate that Jesus has risen and that he offers daily peace. We ask God to send workers, committed to bringing the message of Good News and the power of God.
